"Have appointed Bhaichung Bhutia as Advisor to #AIFF and myself for the overall issues of the game and the Federation", AIFF president Praful Patel confirmed the news on Twitter.
"Welcome on board #Bhaichung. First call improving the #Indian National team and readying the boys for World Cup U17. #AIFF", he added.
The Indian men's football team have been continuing to paint a grim picture as they had dropped a whopping 12 places to languish at the 167th position in the FIFA rankings released earlier this month.
India also slumped to their fifth successive defeat, losing 0-3 to Oman in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers last week.
