Five Twenty20 Players The Indian Selectors Should Consider

1. Ashish Nehra
He might not be as young as the others on this list, but Ashish Nehra has stood out in recent times as a very useful T20 bowler. MS Dhoni will know well just how good the experienced Nehra is, considering he used him very well for Chennai Super Kings. In the 2015 IPL season he took 22 wickets in 16 matches. (How Much Aggression Does India Need?)
What makes Nehra a potent T20 bowler is his death overs bowling. He has the ability to bowl yorkers and stop batsmen from throwing their bats around in the death overs. Something that would have been quite useful in the first T20 versus South Africa in Dharamsala, where Aravind missed a yorker and went for a 6 in the last over that saw the visitors win the contest.
2. Yuzvendra Chahal
A young man, who is a tried and tested match winner for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL. Yuzvendra Chahal has picked up 35 wickets in 3 seasons in the Indian Premier League. With no one supporting R Ashwin in the spin department, the 25-year-old leg-spinner from Haryana, who finished as the 3rd highest wicket-taker this season in the IPL, can be an useful option.
3. Shreyas Iyer
Young Shreyas Iyer is a very exciting prospect. In the IPL he opens the batting for the Delhi Daredevils and averages almost 34. He was the 8th highest run-getter in the IPL this season. A big talking point amongst experts is the lack ofenough fire-power up top for Team India in T20s, so Iyer should definitely be on the selectors' radar.
4. Deepak Hooda
MS Dhoni recently said that he is looking to move up the order and play freely. The team though will need a finisher at number 5 or 6. Someone who can make the most of the death overs and Deepak Hooda could be the right choice. The 20-year-old who plays for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL showed his ability to go for the big shots, coming low down in the order in the last IPL season. Hooda in fact is an all-rounder and gives the captain that added spin option as well.

5. Gurkeerat Singh Mann
Here's someone who has already got an India call-up. Gurkeerat Singh Mann, a 25-year-old all-rounder from Punjab, celebrated his maiden call-up to the Indian ODI squad for the series vs South Africa with a fantastic double century against Railways in the Ranji Trophy.
The fact that Gurkeerat, who plays for Kings XI in the IPL, has been picked for the ODI squad shows that the selectors feel he is capable of playing at the highest level in limited overs matches. Gurkeerat has also had a few good outings for India A recently. He was in fact picked by the selectors ahead of Ravindra Jadeja for the ODI series vs the Proteas.
Chairman of selectors Sandeep Patil in fact said, "Gurkeerat was picked looking at his all-round capabilities. The demands of the game are such that we need more all-rounders." If he does play the ODIs and does well, Gurkeerat should perhaps be looked at as a future T20 probable as well.
