Ind vs SA: Dedicate Feroz Shah Kotla win to Chennai flood victims: Ajinkya Rahane

Ajinkya Rahane, who was named man-of-the-match for his twin hundreds, dedicated India's 337-run win against South Africa to the Indian Army for its stellar role in helping the Chennai flood victims.

Ajinkya Rahane, who slammed twin hundreds in India's epic 337-run win over South Africa at Delhi's Feroz Shah Kotla dedicated the win to victims of the Chennai flood and the Indian Army, which has been lauded for its sensational efforts in helping thousands of stranded people.
Rahane averaged less than eight in four Tests at home despite some remarkable performances in tough overseas conditions. But the stylish Mumbai batsman struck 127 in the first innings and followed it up with an unbeaten 100 as India set South Africa an improbable 481 to win the fourth and final Test. The visitors were bowled out for 143 in the final session, thanks to Ravichandran Ashwin's relentless efforts on a surface that had little in it for the spinners. Rahane was named man-of-the match after he finished as the only centurion in a series dominated by spinners and turning pitches.

"I would like to dedicate this to the people in Chennai who are suffering from the floods and the Indian arm, which is helping out. This one is for them," said Rahane as he accepted the award after India climbed to No. 2 in the ICC Test rankings by virtue of their 3-0 series win.
Rahane has been among India's most consistent batsmen with hundreds in New Zealand, England, Australia and Sri Lanka. He was dismissed in the 90s in South Africa and Sri Lanka. But his home record must have stung him. After a nightmarish debut at the Kotla in 2013, Rahane continued to struggle on turning pitches.
Rahane is the fifth Indian to record a hundred in each innings of a Test match and the first to do that against South Africa. Virat Kohli was the last man to achieve that feat (against Australia at the Adelaide Oval) but it came in a losing cause.
Former India skipper Sunil Gavaskar, in fact, rated Rahane ahead of Kohli as a Test batsman after his heroics at the Kotla.
" Rahane is currently the most complete Test batsman in the team. He is brilliant both in attacking and defending. He has done well everywhere, in all the conditions whereas Virat Kohli struggled in England," Gavaskar told NDTV.
Ever the team man, Rahane said he was happy with the convincing win and said the only thing he looks to do is follow due processes with the bat.
"I am really happy for myself and my team. I always like to improve my game, my cricketing skills. I believe in my process because the results will follow automatically," he said.
