Sourav Ganguly bats for India-Pakistan series

Sourav Ganguly bats for India-Pakistan series

Three days after BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur ruled out the possibility of a series between India and Pakistan, former India captain Sourav Ganguly said he was personally in favour of bilateral cricket between the two arch-rivals,
"India-Pakistan contests are high-octane given the interest it garners in both countries. Personally I am in favor of a series," Ganguly told the media in Ranchi today. "However, there several factors which play part," he added.

India and Pakistan were supposed to play in the United Arab Emirates in December for two Tests, five one-day internationals and two T20s. But the series was put on hold after the BCCI refused to send its team to the Middle East.

Pakistan subsequently turned down an invitation from the BCCI to play a short limited-overs series in India. There was talk of a series in Sri Lanka but that failed to materialise without a nod from the Indian government.
India and Pakistan were last involved in a full-fledged series in 2007 - all bilateral ties between the two countries were suspended after the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai. However, Pakistan did tour India for ODIs and T20 Internationals in 2012-13.
