NEW DELHI: Everybody loves a bad boy whether it's in life or in sports. Nick Kyrgios is no different. He's loud, in your face, aggressive and borderline manic when he is on the tennis court. The Aussie has almost paid as much fine for his antics on the court as he has earned over the 2015 season but he is not ready to change his spots.
He is walking a tight rope after a fine of $25,000 and a suspended sentence from the ATP for his 'aggressive behaviour' and inappropriate comments made against Stan Wawrinka during a Rogers Cup match in August this year.
The 20-year-old will team up with Wawrinka in the last leg of this year's IPTL in Singapore. Although the pair has not spoken since the incident, where Kyrgios had made an inappropriate comment about Wawrinka's girlfriend Donna Vekic, the Aussie is looking forward to sharing the bench with him.
"Everyone's sort of excited or curious to know how it's going to turn out with Wawrinka. For me, it's all done and dusted. It's been a long time since then. We have both moved on. He's a champion and won Grand Slams (Australian Open 2014 and French Open 2015) and understands that I am still young. If he is playing singles, I am going to do whatever is needed-get a drink of water and do whatever I can to help him win."
For all his on-court antics, there is no doubting Kyrgios's talent. The Australian made it to the 2014 Wimbledon quarters, during which he beat Rafael Nadal. "To beat Nadal was superb. The only win I rate higher than that is over Roger (Federer) in Madrid."
